Q: What are the Licensing Steps in New Hampshire?

Step 2: Schedule your exam with your state’s testing provider, Prometric. The fastest way to schedule your exam is to do so online at Prometric. You can also schedule your exam over the phone at (800) 869-6603. Your exam may be taken at a physical Prometric examination center or via a remote online proctored exam. Exam fees must be paid at the time of reservation.

To change or cancel your testing appointment, visit Prometric. You must make changes at least 24 hours prior to the exam appointment to avoid forfeiting your exam fee.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you register for ExamFX pre-licensing courses, schedule your license exam, and/or apply for your license it is important to use the same name that appears on the identification forms you plan to present at the time of your testing appointment.
Step 3: Take and pass your state licensing exam. On the day of your appointment you must bring with you one valid form of government issued identification (driver’s license, passport, military I.D., etc.), which must contain your photograph. You must also bring with you your certificate of completion. You will not be able to take your exam if these requirements are not met.
Security measures are taken for all testing methods. Restrictions on what you may bring with you to the testing center, into the testing room, and what you may wear will be enforced. Once you have completed your examination you will be made aware of your results.

Q: How do I apply for a nonresident health insurance license in New Hampshire?
If you are applying for a nonresident license and hold a similar license in your home state, you will not have to take an exam. Nonresident individual producers with resident or designated home state licenses are required to apply for original and renewal licenses online with the NAIC at the National Insurance Producer Registry at http://www.nipr.com/.

Q: How do I renew my health insurance license in New Hampshire?
- The license renewal period begins 90 days prior to expiration and ends at midnight the day of expiration. All resident producers with a major line of authority must be CE compliant. All renewals are processed electronically via www.nipr.com
Business entities cannot change the DRLP of record through the renewal process. If you wish to change the DRLP complete the DRLP change form and mail with a$50 check to the department prior to processing the renewal. DRLP must be actively licensed in NH and hold the same lines of authority as the entity. - Individual Producers- Licenses expire the last day of the birth month.

Q: What do I do for Continuing Education to keep my health insurance license in New Hampshire?
REQUIRED HOURS
New Hampshire licensed Producers are required to take 24 hours of CE, including 3 hours of ethics, every 2-year license term.
The license term ends on the last day of the licensee’s birth month at least 13 months, but not more than 25 months, from the effective date of the license and every 2 years thereafter. Adjusters must renew biennially on 10/1. Producers must complete their continuing education 60 days prior the license expiration date to avoid penalty. New Hampshire does not allow excess credits to be carried forward into the next licensing period.
CATEGORY RESTRICTIONS
Producers may take any producer approved course, they may not take courses approved for adjusters only. Not more than 10 credits out of the 24 required may be in the category of ethics.
SPECIAL TRAINING
- LONG TERM CARE PARTNERSHIP TRAINING – Before a Producer can sell or solicit Long Term Care Insurance, producers must be licensed with a Life/Accident and Health or Sickness, or Life license and must complete an 8-hour course in Long Term Care Partnership Training. Producers must then complete a 4-hour ongoing training requirement every 2-year license term following the initial completion date of the 8-hour training.
Nonresidents who have completed their CE requirement in their home state will be deemed compliant for New Hampshire’s continuing education requirement.
