Q: What are the Licensing Steps in Oklahoma?

Step 2: Schedule your exam with your state’s testing provider.
The Oklahoma Insurance Department has a contract with PSI to administer the insurance licensing examinations for the State of Oklahoma beginning on February 16, 2023. Candidates may contact PSI starting Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at https://test-takers.psiexams.com/okins or (833) 333-4754 to schedule their examination.
In addition to offering multiple in-person testing centers, PSI will also offer remote testing for all examinations except bail bondsmen. The Oklahoma Insurance Department encourages the use of the online portal which allows for easier access and flexibility to candidates. Step 3: Take and pass your state licensing exam. On the day of your appointment you must bring with you a valid form of government issued identification (driver’s license, passport, military I.D., etc.) which must contain a photograph. You will not be able to take your exam if these requirements are not met.
NOTE: Candidates taking a remotely proctored exam must select to end both the exam portion and survey portion of the test in order to receive your on-screen results and emailed score report. Security measures are taken for all testing methods. Restrictions on what you may bring with you to the testing center, into the testing room, and what you may wear will be enforced. Step 4: Allow 3 business days for the Exam Provider to provide the exam results to this department and the National Database electronically, prior to applying. The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) in partnership with Kaplan Financial Education is excited to announce a new option to purchase licensing exam study manuals. The manuals will now be offered electronically with two formats to choose from. Both formats will be sold as bundles: Life and Health License Exam Manual & Oklahoma State Law Supplement or Property and Casualty License Exam Manual & Oklahoma State Law Supplement.
The PDF format will cost $20 per bundle and can be saved and downloaded for use. The eBook format will cost $30 per bundle and can be accessed via a free application for a phone or tablet. The eBook format includes many features including read aloud and the ability to highlight, bookmark, and add notes.

Oklahoma requires insurance professionals to hold an active license prior to working in the industry. Passing the exam(s) is the first step to becoming licensed. You may not work until you have submitted an online application and the license has been issued. If an exam was required, allow 3 business days for the Exam Provider to provide the exam results to this department and the National Database electronically, prior to applying.

Non-Resident License Fee is $100
- OID will review your application. Submitting an application does not mean that a license was approved or issued. You will be notified (by the contact email address entered on the application) when the application is approved or if the OID needs additional information. - Special Instructions for a Non-Resident Adjuster without a resident state license
A Non-Resident Adjuster without a resident state license may apply online and designate a home state (the state in which they passed the adjuster exam and have an active license).
Follow the instructions above; however, enter the applicants Last Name and SSN only on the applicant sign in page. The applicant will be prompted to select the state in which they want to apply (Oklahoma) and then to designate a home state. - Print your new license

Q: How do I renew my health insurance license in Oklahoma?
An existing ACTIVE resident (R) or non-resident (NR) license may be renewed approximately 90 days prior to the expiration. Renewals are required to be processed online. Oklahoma resident licensees will need to be CE compliant prior to renewing their license. You may renew your license online at www.nipr.com
License Renewal Fee is $60 for Residents and $100 for Non-Residents.
Q: What do I do if my health insurance license has expired in Oklahoma?
A license which has been EXPIRED less than (1) year may be reactivated by submitting a new INITIAL application online. A double license fee will be assessed in order to reactivate a license with a lapse. The license number and original expiration date will remain the same. An exam is not required.
Oklahoma resident licensees will need to be CE compliant at least 48 hours prior to submitting an application to reactivate their license.
Reinstatement Fee for Residents is $120 and $200 for Non-Residents.
Q: What do I do for Continuing Education to keep my health insurance license in Oklahoma?
All resident agent producers, Title producers, CSRs and adjusters are required to complete continuing education biennially prior to license renewal.
Renewal Guidelines
– CE providers are required to report course completions (electronically) within 10 business days of course completion. The transcript must show CE COMPLIANT, at least 3 business days before the licensee will be allowed to process their renewal application online. Best Practice: CE should be completed at least 30 days prior to the license expiration date to allow ample time for the CE provider to report the credit. This will also allow time for the licensee to process their renewal prior to expiration.
Repeat Courses
– Licensees cannot repeat a course within a 24 month period. A Licensee will need to review their CE Transcript online to ensure that a course is not repeated (refer to the course number for verification.)
Approved Courses
– Only Oklahoma approved CE courses will count toward your CE requirements. A list of approved courses may be found under Course Lookup.
Credits Carried Over
– Six (6) credit hours in excess of the minimum twenty-four month period requirement shall carry forward to the next twenty-four month period as general hours.
Resident Producers
(excluding Title producers) are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education. The 24 hours should consist of 3 hours of ethics, 2 hours of legislative update and 19 hours of producer general. A licensee holding a property line of authority is required to complete a 1 hour earthquake course, which will be counted as part of the 19 hour general requirement.
Non-Resident Producers – basic CE is considered to be reciprocal with the producer’s resident state if that state has a CE requirement and the producer has met all of the requirements of that state.
